Building the Future of Community

We believe every community organizer deserves tools that save time and generate revenue—not drain both.

Our Mission

Empower community organizers to spend less time on admin work and more time on what matters: building meaningful connections and creating impact. We're building the "Shopify for Communities"—an all-in-one platform that handles the boring stuff so you can focus on your mission.

Our Vision

A world where every diaspora, professional network, alumni group, and community organization has the tools to thrive—without needing a tech team or venture capital. Where organizers are celebrated, not burned out. Where communities generate sustainable revenue, not just goodwill.

Why We Built Kazokus

We've been there. Spending 10+ hours a week juggling Eventbrite, Mailchimp, Google Forms, Zoom, and Excel spreadsheets—just to manage a community of 200 people. Watching talented organizers burn out because they're buried in admin work instead of doing what they love.

The breaking point? Realizing that community organizers were paying $500+/month across multiple tools, giving up 10-20% of event revenue to platforms, and still spending 10 hours a week on manual tasks.

Meanwhile, businesses had Shopify. Creators had Patreon. But community organizers? They were stuck piecing together a dozen different tools or paying $10,000+ for enterprise software designed for corporations, not communities.

We built Kazokus to change that. One platform. Fair pricing. Built for community organizers, by people who've run communities.

Our Values

Community First

We build for organizers, not shareholders. Every feature decision starts with: "Does this save time or make money for our customers?"

Move Fast

Ship features in weeks, not years. We operate on 6-day development cycles because your community can't wait 6 months for a fix.

Keep What You Earn

You keep 100%* of the revenue you generate. Simple subscription pricing, no platform fees, no hidden cuts.

Mark Yates

Founder

Business executive with over two decades of experience building and scaling ventures, from early stage startups to Fortune 500 environments, across cleantech, manufacturing, and software.

I have led companies through establishment and funding, hyper growth, and M&A. My work has included scaling global supply chains, building teams across three continents, and modernizing legacy operations into practical, AI enabled systems. Today, as Managing Partner at Wolfe Yates & Co., I mentor and advise cleantech companies at all stages. Previously, I have held Founder, CFO and COO, and EVP of Finance and Operations roles, often stepping in where execution, discipline, and scale mattered most.

My strongest conviction, however, is around community.

As a board member of a diaspora not for profit, I saw firsthand how fragmented tools and manual processes quietly exhaust volunteer led organizations. Capable leaders were spending scarce time reconciling spreadsheets, chasing payments, and managing disconnected systems instead of building relationships and sustaining momentum. Over time, that friction erodes participation and leads to burnout.

The issue was not a lack of software. Enterprise platforms existed, but they were priced and designed for corporations, not grassroots communities. Consumer tools existed as well, but many extracted value by taking a percentage of every dollar raised. Neither approach respected the economics, values, or constraints of community led groups.

Through Sumosoft Inc., my software venture studio, I focus on building tools for the post employment economy, where entrepreneurs, creators, and community builders need flexibility, transparency, and control. Kazokus applies that philosophy to community management, giving organizers practical infrastructure so they can spend less time on administration and more time strengthening the communities they care about.
